Digirig cable for Yaesu FTM series of mobile transceivers using proprietary 10 pin MiniDin connector.

Description

Digirig cable for Yaesu FTM series transceivers using proprietary 10 pin MiniDin connector.

  • cable allows digital modes and packet radio protocols such as VaraFM, VarAC, SSTV, APRS, Winlink, Echolink, Allstar etc.
  • great for working satellites (e.g. APRS and SSTV)
  • data cable combines audio and PTT control, plugs into Digirig’s audio socket (black jack) – works with all Digirig models
  • 9600 baud audio cable variant additionally enables serial features of the transceiver (green jack) – this requires Digirig Mobile in RS-232 configuration
  • coiled cable keeps things nice and tidy by preventing knots and kinks
  • about 24″ relaxed, 72″ fully stretched
  • shielded and RF choked with ferrite beads on both ends to prevent RFI
  • premium quality materials and craftsmanship

Choosing Cable Variant

There are two cable variants available in this listing:

Option Audio Bandwidth Serial Mechanical
1 De-emphasized, 1200 baud (narrow) No Coiled, MiniDin10 -> 1 TRRS jack
2 Flat, 9600 baud (wide) Yes Coiled, MiniDin10 -> 2 TRRS jacks
  • All variants of the cable work with all models of Digirig interfaces in at least base capability (Audio + PTT).
  • If you plan on using a digital mode requiring wide FM bandwidth such as VaraFM Wide or M17 then you’ll need a 9600 baud variant of this cable. The same cable will also work for all standard (narrow, 1200 baud audio) modes. All Digirig models are capable of handling 9600 baud audio.
  • If you plan on utilizing radio’s serial connectivity such as memory programming, GPS signal output, internal TNC output, serial CAT control then you’ll need a variant of the cable with serial lines (e.g. 9600 baud variant). Refer to your transceiver’s manual for the information on the supported serial features. The use of serial connection requires Digirig Mobile in RS-232 configuration. All of the serial features are optional and not required for operating the digital modes.
  • If neither of the above requirements apply, then you can use a lower cost 1200 baud/PTT cable.
  • If using serial-capable cable (e.g. 9600 baud variant) with the audio-only interface model (e.g. Digirig Lite, VOX Cable) then the serial side of the cable (green jack) remains unconnected and should be wrapped/isolated to prevent accidental electrical connections.
